In 2009 she founded Red Door Studios that is now called the Lacey Lewis School of Realist Art. Spending her formative years in Syracuse, NY, she moved to Kansas City. She has also spent time studying with Steven Assael, Max Ginsburg, Robert Liberace, David Kassan, Daniel Sprick, Graydon Parrish and Romel de la Torre. It helped spark his enthusiasm for drawing, and he received a Knights of Columbus Scholarship for art along with a baseball.

Lewis studied art primarily through workshops at The Art Students League of NY and Studio Incamminati in Philadelphia.
